Kitchen
For this compact kitchen the client wanted subdued yet impactful colors and materials. The navy millwork, blue marble countertops, black hardware and warm wood accents create a calm atmosphere. The two-tone grey cement tile floor is a contemporary twist on the classic white checkerboard floor, and the reeded wood on the back side of the island adds some contrast and texture. Since the kitchen is at the back of the home and is adjacent to the dining and living room with a direct sight line, it was important for the client to have integrated appliances that blend into the millwork. They also opted for a tall cabinet as pantry storage, base cabinets and two floating shelves, instead of a row of uppers, which helps to open up the space.
